NCU Class Action Lawsuit

Class Action Against Northcentral University

Peiffer Wolf Carr & Kane filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of the potentially thousands of doctoral students who have been hit with costly delays, higher fees, and rising student loan debt due to the systematic and intentional tactics of the for-profit Northcentral University (NCU).

NCU is accused of using “bait-and-switch” tactics to lure in students with the promise of completing doctoral degrees in short timeframes, yet admitted that these programs were designed to take much longer.  We believe that these doctoral programs were deliberately designed to ensure that it would be difficult, if not impossible, for students to complete within the time and cost promised by NCU. The longer it takes the more NCU makes … and the more students slip deeper and deeper into unanticipated debt.

Students seeking a Doctor of Education (``Ed.D.``) were told that it would take ``3 ½ -5 years`` at a cost of $30,600. However, NCU's own documents confirm that the Ed.D. program was in fact ``designed`` to take 83 months, or nearly 7 years, which would result in a cost exceeding $50,000.
